Now instead of the playoffs, the talk is of a heartbreaking and improbable lost.
Some bears players are calling the worst they've ever experienced.
Joining us now to help us digest what we've seen so far this season.
We're delighted to welcome back.
Former offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears James big Cat Williams.
I gasped out loud at that nail-biting loss to the commanders.
What did you make of that final that Hail Mary play with just 2 seconds on the clock that gave the commanders at victory.
>> I did something out loud to was it was hard to You know, they played so poorly in the 1st half.
>> Got themselves back into the game, took the lead.
21 seconds left.
brings game was over.
And then they just started to watch the series of events unfold.
>> just didn't look like it was going to go in their And unfortunately, We have a player out there back turn to off route from the place cards.
Are you know, you have players filling other players where they should be positioned the point time during that last his last 2 or 3 players and just wasn't it wasn't a good look for, you know, for a team that.
prides itself.
Now all character in the locker room.
>> It's just not very good down to save least lot of anger, especially being directed.
You mentioned towards Tyrique.
Stevenson is the criticism fair of the top?
>> From inside the locker room, everyone in that locker room can criticize them anywhere they want.
They know how he practices every day.
know what kind of person he is from the outside looking You know, I don't I'm not around them every day.
I don't know.
He's a guy would make mistakes like that on a regular basis or if it was just a one-time thing.
So, you know, to hear all the people wanting to.
do all these different things.
You know, you always hear that.
Players that are very good very important to the team.
Get a little longer road than others and it's up Bears.
Fans, though, might say, you know, once is enough, he has apologized via social media as well as in person to the team on Monday.
>> Saying he won't let you know, such a lapse in concentration happen again.
Should that be enough?
You know, it's it's sort of like, you know, all right.
Let's put this in the past.
It's move on.
Let's do better next week.
Or should he face a disciplinary consequence?
I played in the 90's.
You know, we.
kind of feel like we would have handled >> You know, you think about all the things that are going on now as far as combat and all these other players coming out and speaking about things going in the locker room.
And I think those are.
Like I said, I'm old.
So I think those are things are kept in the locker room.
We deal with those things in the locker room, even though a median.
Now we don't take it we deal with these things are okay.
>> So almost at the halfway mark of the season, how would you assess what you've seen from the Bears offense so >> I think you've seen the Bears offense that has grown a little but unfortunately, it hasn't groom against superior defenses.
When you see them grow, go up against good defense is a struggle.
When you seen them go up against the fence, that all a little below average they played world and Callebs looks good.
You know, as it may have looked good.
>> But you know, you're starting to get into the mid and maybe just start starting November 17.
You know, you're in the conference the fact they have a good defense.
So you've got to have some things figured out by and you would have thought during the bye week was a good opportunity to figure some of those things that's something you have to they have a long way to go in a short period of time about the table.
Just looking back.
You know, you look at playing that old school.
>> Cover to but don't break doing of field goals, not giving up touchdowns, even with the helm area only gave up 17 points.
And you would think that with all the offensive firepower that you >> 17 points given up by to do for 2 stolen a few Caleb Williams, you know, he's a rookie, but obviously, you know, still shouldering huge, you know, expectations from fans.
>> Is what's realistic to expect from, you know, a rookie in his first season.
Are you expecting to grow?
>> expect to see progression as you move You don't want to see 2 steps for him in a step back.
And I think that's kind of what we've got out of the Washington game was a step So, you what do they have to clean up?
Only the people in that locker room?
No, because is it is people concentrating people not knowing exactly what they're supposed to or is that you have people and some positions that don't have the ability to do the things that you're asking it The rest of the division shaping up.
So rough conditions.
I mean, you look at Detroit right now the role Minnesota has come out and looked very I look a lot better than I think people thought they Green Bay's playing well right now and, you know, unfortunately, with a loss, there's a down at the bottom of the list and have to fight their way back >> Expectations for the rest of the season.
>> Caleb doing better and you see flashes of how greedy years, look at situations that he's been and and the passion that the end of games when he's been able to put.
The team offense on his shoulders moving down the field.
Now don't get me wrong.
It takes all 11.
>> But you seen those things that.
Everyone talked about about him coming out college.
>> His ability roll all but rolls his ability to ability to get out of pocket and still keep his eyes downfield.
So are things I think can grow on there as he grows.
The offer should expand the offense should roll look >> Alright.
So next up, bears are at the Arizona Cardinals.
30 seconds.
20 seconds left.
How do you think they match up?
>> It's going well.
My first concern is that.
Carry over from the Washington Does that help married?
Does the tension the locker room carry over into Arizona.
that happens, I don't know if they have a chance to beat Arizona, but if they can get back on the right
