We're going on a field trip where learning math is tons of fun.
Our destination is the Math Park.
"(children cheering)" - Howdy chipmunks, welcome to math park.
I'm park ranger, A. Rith Metic, but you can call me Ranger Rick.
Math Park is the place where ice cream prices are stable, but balloon vendors welcome inflation.
Hey, you know what?
It's another fun-filled decimal day in math park, let's get started.
- Look at that.
It's a bar that's been cut into 10 equal parts and three of those those parts are shaded red.
How would we write that as a fraction?
That's right.
Three tenths.
And how would we write that as a decimal?
Right?
Again, zero decimal point three, but we still say three tenths.
- Now would you look at that?
It's a square that's been cut into 100 little squares and 15 of those little squares are shaded red.
So how do we write that as a fraction?
You got it 15 over 100, because 15 out of a hundred are shaded red.
But how do you write it as a decimal?
Exactly, Zero decimal point fifteen, but we still say 15 hundredths.
Yabba dabba, doo - It's time for the math park athletic games.
Today, we're going to be seeing three contestants run the 100 meter dash.
They will see how many meters they can run in 10 seconds.
Our first contestant is Mr. Bull Horn.
Mr. Bull Horn is running the 100 meter dash for the first time.
He doesn't seem to be dressed properly for the event.
He's just wearing some jeans and a T-shirt, but maybe he's going for comfort.
Maybe that's more of his style.
Okay, let's get ready.
Get set.
Go.
And he's off.
Let's see how many meters he's going to run out of 100 meters.

He stopped at 44 hundredths of the track.
44 meters out of 100 meters.
Okay Mr. Bull horn That was a good start there.
We'll see how you compare with the other runners.
And speaking of the other runners, our next contestant is Janet.
Janet is known for her athletic ability.
She's also dressed appropriately for the run, doing some stretching there.
And it's time to take your mark Janet, on your mark.
Get set.

Alright.
Let's see.
She's got 10 seconds.
She's going.
She's going.
She just surpassed bull horn.
"(whistle blown)" Okay.
53 hundredths of the track.
53 meters out of 100 meters.
Way to go, Janet.
All right.
And boy, she's smiling.
She's very happy.
Oh, she's going to be talking with someone later.
Wow.
Maybe a date.
"(Laugh)" Okay.

Where's he going to stop?
"(whistle blown)" And 49 hundredths, he got 49 out of 100 meters in 10 seconds.
Good show Mr.
Loud Mouth.
Now it's time to check our 100 meter dash results.
Let's go over them again.
First we had Mr. Bull Horn and bull horn came in at 44 meters out of a hundred, So his score is 44 hundredths.
Next we have Janet and Janet in 10 seconds ran 53 meters out of a hundred.
Her score is 53 hundredths.
And last but not least is Mr.
Loud mouth.

His score is 49 hundredths.
And who is the winner?
The winner of the 100 meter dash is Janet.
Congratulations Yet another square cut into 100 equal parts.
And three of those parts are shaded red.
Now we know how to write that as a fraction.
3 over 100 or three hundredths, but how do you write it as a decimal.
Like this zero decimal point zero three, but we still say three hundredths.
- 100 Ping pong balls in the bowl.
And there is bull horn.
How many will he get out?
He got 14 hundredths of the ping pong balls out of the bowl.

You or me?
You're ready.
