(audience cheering) (Wimee singing) - Hi friends.
We are live right now on WGVU.
Our show is designed for you to play along with us.
(laughs) Many of the things that we will be doing are available to play with, to interact.
Some of you registered at our custom play-at-home interface.
So you'll notice that there will be viewers' ideas brought in during parts of the show, in real time.
When they registered, they were given an animal and a color to represent them.
So all of us are gonna play together and some of the ideas will be shown right here in the show!
(laughs) The show is better because of our collaboration.
Okay, let's get going.
I was wondering, I was gonna ask you, here we go, do you prefer spaghetti or mac and cheese?
Think it over.

Jim, I'm gonna bring you in, my friend, the human intelligence of the show.
Jim, are you ready?
- Hi, Wimee.
Hi friends.
- What do you prefer?
- You know, there's actually a lot of variation in how people make spaghetti and macaroni and cheese, so a lot of it depends on who's making it, right?
But I think I prefer spaghetti, specifically, baked spaghetti 'cause I like the cheese on top, baked cheese on top too.
- Man.
- So good.
- That is so good.
I forgot about the baked spaghetti option.
- It's good stuff.
- Yeah, thanks Jim.
What do you guys prefer?
Pink Flamingo says, "Mac and cheese."
You know, mac and cheese is classic.
Oh, two mac and cheeses.
Ooh, should we keep a tally?
Oh, neither?
That's a valid point.
Yeah, that's understood.
Spaghetti.
Okay, so that's one spaghetti too.
I gotta do some math here.
Ooh, this one's vegan mac and cheese, because the cheese.
Oh, allergic to them, oh yeah, yeah vegan.
That totally makes sense.
Man, there's so many good possibilities for how you can make the food, the recipes, the options.
Man, so we're getting kind of a good mix.

"Spaghetti, because it's long and thin."
It is amazing.
How does that work?
How do they make the spaghetti?
Huh, oh bacon, yeah.
Hey, Jim, do you know, how do I... That's a fascinating point.
How do they make the spaghetti so long?
- [Jim] You know, I'm not sure, 'cause sometimes it's crazy long, right?
- Yeah.
Oh, cheesy goodness.
- [Jim] You know, I forgot about the bacon too, like bacon with mac and cheese, I might have to change my answer.
- Hmm, Well yeah, you're right.
We didn't say like deluxe mac and cheese though.
- [Jim] Yeah, but still, right?
I forgot all about bacon and mac and cheese.
That's so good.
- Yeah.
For me, I would go with mac and cheese.
Yeah.
Hey friends, let's get singing.
Okay, here we go.
Speaking of mac and cheese.
♪ Mac and cheese in a bowl ♪ Ate so much, now I'm full.

Okay, see if I can get this all in there.

We got so many good ideas.

Jim, have you ever had couscous?
- [Jim] I have, and it is fun to say.
- Those are those little teeny little noodles, right?
- Yep.
- Yeah.
Lentil penne.
Okay, I'm gonna combine couscous and lentil penne.
♪ Couscous, lentil penne in a bowl ♪ ♪ I ate so much, now I'm full (laughs) ♪ ♪ Spaghetti with meatballs in a bowl ♪ ♪ I ate so much, now I'm full (laughs) I can sing this forever, Jim.
That's pretty much how I roll.
- [Jim] I know, that's a fun song.
It's all good food too, right?
Like all of 'em, I'm going, "Yum, yum, yum, yum.
I'm hungry now.
♪ All these pastas in a bowl (gasps) Can you imagine putting every single pasta together into one bowl?
- That would be awesome.
- What would we call it - [Jim] With like five different kinds of cheeses and with bacon for sure.
- But then you would bake it too, I thought you were gonna say.
- [Jim] Yeah, put some baked cheeses on there.
Yeah.
- Oh, so good.
So good.
Hey, we should kind of keep the show moving though.
- Probably.
- All right friends, let's go see what Moby's gonna share with us today.
(upbeat music) - I've noticed that there are a lot of different kinds of noodles.
Yeah, spaghetti's a long thin noodle.
Lasagna noodles are big and flat, and they look like a rectangle.
Elbow macaroni is great for mac and cheese.
It's curved, and I guess it looks like an elbow.
Hmm.
Bow tie pasta looks like a bow tie.
And orzo is little and looks like rice.
Hmm.
What other kinds of noodles have you seen?
What's your favorite kind of noodle?
(upbeat music) - I forgot about bow tie pasta.
And what about those pastas that are like little letters, or little shapes?
And then Jim, what was the other one?
It was not couscous, but... What did Moby say?
It was little.
- [Jim] Um, yeah no, I can't think of it right now.
I know what you're talking about though, because he just said it.
- Oh, orzo, I think it was orzo.
- Orzo, yes, it was orzo.
- Yeah, it was orzo.
That's a fun word to say.
- [Jim] Couscous, orzo, and they're both small and they're both two of the funnest to say.
- Well, we could say, "Should I have this, or orzo?"
(Wimee laughs) Sorry, okay, okay, I'll move along.
It's time for today's one, two... ♪ Three sentence story Beginning, middle, end.
And the three words come from you.
In the first sentence, we set the scene.
In the second sentence, there is a problem.
No!
(sighs) But it's okay because in the third sentence, there is a solution.
(laughs) Friends, share with us a person, place, or thing.
This is a fun readiness story.
We don't know where it's gonna go.
We don't know if it'll be silly.
It'll be a mystery, but it begins with words.
(gasps) Robots.

Again, those of you playing at the play-at-home interface, you registered and you joined us to help us, and friends watching at home, you can join us later to register.
But okay, what was it?
Robots.
Okay.
Robots.
I'm trying to establish the scene.
Thinking it over.
Many robots were spending the morning at the park.
Yeah, I think that's a good start.
I'm gonna add a little bit more too, but the idea is that there's lots of robots at the park.
(gasps) There we go!
Okay, I'm gonna add.
It was a beautiful day as the robots gathered at the park.
There we go.
Okay friends, but now there's the problem.
No.
What's the problem gonna be?
(exhales) I'm a little nervous.
What's it gonna be?
(gasps) Radio.
Okay.
Okay, I'm thinking.
Ooh, cool tree, Wimage Board.
Okay, it was a beautiful morning and the robots gathered at the park.
They were planning to rehearse their choreography, but the radio broke.
No!
They're working on a dance and they're gonna use a radio when they do their choreography.
Okay, so how do we fix this problem with the radio?
They can't practice... (gasps) Lizard.
Okay, lizard is the solution.
Oh, I like how the radio is on the bench.
Cool idea, Wimage Board.
Okay, so lizard's gonna help.
What do you think, Jim?
Is it as simple as a lizard brings us something to- Or is more unexpected?
- [Jim] I think that the lizard is going to perform the music for you guys.
That would be really fun.
- Live.
Okay, okay, I got it, okay good.
Here we go.
From the top.
It was a beautiful day and the robots gathered at the park to practice their choreography.
Oh no, they realized the radio was not working.
Quickly, Grandpa Robot called Lizard and said, "Lizard come perform live!"
And the lizard did.
Yeah, I guess I didn't really add more to the idea, Jim, right, it's just a lizard.
How is the lizard gonna perform?
- [Jim] I don't know, it depends.
Like, maybe he could sing, maybe he could play some guitar.
We don't know what musical instrument he plays, right?
- (gasps) Yes, yes, that's it.
The lizard should bring a guitar, I think.
Or a piano?
- [Jim] Well piano's kind of hard to carry around.
- Oh yeah, that's true, that's true.
So if the lizard's playing guitar, we could add the details later of the type of music, right?
What style of music are they practicing?
- [Jim] Well, something you can dance to for sure.
- Yeah.
(upbeat music) What if... - [Jim] This song's pretty good to dance to.
- Oh yeah.
(upbeat music) (Wimee sings) Oh, look at the lizard right now!
Oh man, that's some good technique, Lizard.
What do you think, Jim?
You play guitar.
How's the lizard doing?
- Yeah, I'd say that that lizard definitely knows what he's doing.
- All right, and then the robots, what kind of dance moves are the robots gonna do?
- Probably The Robot.
- Oh, I am a robot.
Friends at home, if you wanna dance like a robot.
(Wimee laughs) Yes, we did it, friends!

Today's word is noodles.
- In Spanish, noodle is pasta.
Pasta.
Spaghetti, linguini.
- In Swahili, noodle is tambi.
Tambi.
- Noodle in Ukrainian is loch-che-na.
Loch-che-na.
- Noodle in Arabic is mac-a-rona.
Mac-a-rona.
- [Translator] In American Sign Language, noodle is signed like this.
Noodle.
- In Haitian Creole, noodle is spageti.
Spageti.
(bright music) - I love it.
I love it.
Man.
I loved how our friend Rashida, when she shared how to say noodle in Arabic, it sounded like macaroni.
It was similar.
It's so cool.
I just love words.
I love words so much.
Okay, let's see, friends, it's time to hear from some friends of mine from the Grand Rapids Children's Museum, it's time for "Kid Chat."
(enthusiastic music) What is your favorite thing to eat?
- I like, like eating junk food.
I like french fries and hot chocolate.
- Noodles.
- Noodles.
(gasps) I love noodles.
Do you like spaghetti?
- Mmhmm.
- Yeah?
What do you like to put on your spaghetti?
- Sauce.
- Sauce.
Do you put any broccoli on there?
- No.
- Do you put chocolate chip cookies on it?
- Mm mm.
- I like to eat pizza and mac and cheese.
- Oh, at the same time?
- No.
(laughs) - Broccoli.
- Broccoli?
- Yeah.
- Your favorite thing is broccoli?
That is so cool.
What do you like to put on your french fries?
- I like to put barbecue sauce on 'em.
- Oh, barbecue sauce on french fries, that sounds amazing!
Is cauliflower your favorite thing to eat?
- Carrots.
- Carrots.
I love carrots.
Mm.
Do you ever put carrots in ranch dressing?
Aha.
If you had to pick between a candy bar and a piece of cauliflower, what would you choose?
- Candy bar.
- You would?
- Yeah.
- Can you make a candy bar out of cauliflower?
- I don't know.
- We could call it the cauliflower bar.
- Cauliflower bar.
- A broccoli bar?
Carrot bar?
- Yuk.
- Cheese bar?
- Yee!
- Ooh, a cheese bar.
(enthusiastic music) Thanks friends.
Uh, cheese bar.
Jim, that sounds delightful.
- [Jim] Yeah, cheese bar I would go for, easily.
I like just about any cheese, I think.
- Yeah, so I noticed there's a correlation between pasta and cheese.
- Yeah, right.
- Hm.
- [Jim] Yeah, I think cheese makes just about anything better, definitely pasta.
- Yeah, hey, speaking of food though, a cauliflower bar, I think that could be good.
What if we add chocolate?
So would you eat a chocolate covered cauliflower bar?
Friends, what do you think?
Would you, Jim?
- [Jim] I would try it.
I'd be up for trying it.
- Yeah, yeah, we'll see if anyone shares, if they would like to eat a chocolate covered cauliflower bar.

Oh don't, that was a quick one.

Hm, even with the chocolate?
Might depend on the ratio.
Have you ever made cauliflower crust?
That's a thing too.
Anyways, I digress.

- [Audience Member] What do you call a noodle with a cold?
- Why macaroni and sneeze.
(sneezes) (audience cheers) (Wimee sneezes) - (chuckles) Into your elbow pit though, right?

Oh, Sibley, fun stuff, fun stuff.

(buoyant music) All right, pretty straightforward.

Let's see, I can find inside my mind, I'll start with what we've been talking about, a chocolate cauliflower bar.
(laughs) I can find inside my mind, spaghetti, pizza.
Gotta go with pizza, right?
Oh, guacamole, that's totally one of my favorites!
Do you like guacamole?
Hmm, let's see what our play-at-home friends are... Oh, cheese, cheese was the first one that came up.
So friends, as you enter in your favorite foods, keep adding more, pasta, cheese, hummus.
And if you see something on the word board that you think, "Oh, I enjoyed that too," type it again, or type it for the first time, and someone else typed it first, maybe, but you can type it again, which means it'll get bigger, and we'll know that more people...
It's kinda like seeing who likes what the best.
Oh, flan.
Hummus.
Banana.
Pasta, mm.
Cookies.
Hm, I'm gonna make a little story poem here.
I was eating some lovely cookies and pasta and then I decided I needed some cheese and hummus.
I thought pears would be a delightful thing, and a little bit of flan.
That's the type of bread, right?
Jim, do you know flan?
That's the type of bread, right?
- [Jim] I think it's, yeah, like a bready kind of pudding maybe, I'm not sure.
- Yeah, I love when I know something, I'm not quite sure, then I just go research it to double check.
Or if I've never heard of it, then I can find out.
Okay, oh, pizza made the list.
Yep, yep.
Pears, pasta, look at those words move around.
Blueberries is at the top.
♪ Blueberries Tacos.
Oh, what if we make a taco that's filled with blueberries, pizza, grape, flan, cheese, bananas, pears, cookies, hummus, strawberries.
What would we call that taco?
- [Jim] Everything Taco.
- Well, that makes sense, but I thought maybe we could be like the Mega Taco.
- [Jim] Oh yeah, that's more creative.
- Jelly beans!
Hmm, can jelly beans go in a taco?
- Absolutely.
- Nice.
Hmm, if anyone wants to type their favorite on that list, we'll see.
I think cheese has got the biggest right now, right?
Oh, soup.
Yeah.
Hmm.

And it's by Eric Carl and Friends.
And I love this book because Eric Carl, and all of his friends, they each write about different foods from different countries, and there's just so many tasty foods to look at in here.
And I have a challenge for you readers, since this week is all about noodles.
There are multiple pages in this book about different types of noodle dishes.
Where are they from?
How do you make them?
What's in them?
I challenge you to take a look.
Check out this book, and learn more about different types of noodles.

(laughs) What could happen in part two?
So many possibilities.
♪ Musical park party, musical park party ♪ (Wimee laughs) These are fun.
Ooh, can you do the robot?
♪ I am a robot ♪ I am a robot ♪ Let's watch the robots dance ♪ And the trees and everybody, robot ♪ Oh oh, tres, oh I want to learn this in Spanish.
(Wimee speaks Spanish) (gasps) That's three, three robots?
Oh, I wanna learn what the middle word means.
That's describing the robot, I think.
That's so cool.

Jim, do you have any thoughts on a title?
- [Jim] Um, yeah, nothing that tops any of the ones we've heard.
- Okay, yeah.
Hey, I really appreciate though, having human intelligence working together as a team, checking with you, and I'm like, "Hey, Jim."
(laughs) But yeah, we got some good stuff going here.
I wonder if, I'm starting to think about that tree in the thing, how it grows.
That's kind of a new- - That's an awesome tree.
I would put one of those in my yard, for sure.
- Yeah, cool.

What's something squishy.
Think it over, look around.
Hey Jim, have you found anything?
- I have.
I found this nacho cheese dip that looks very generic, but it's probably good.
I found this scarf, which is very, very long.
It just goes on and on and on forever.
Oh, oh, found again.
- Oh there is is again.
- And then I've got this squishy banana.
It's a little over ripe, so it's very, very squishy today.
- Squishy, squishy, thanks, Jim.
Nice job, those are fun to see.
Squishy.
Okay, friends, what is something that starts with N?
Hmm.
(bright music) Hm, still thinking.
Oh, noodle!
Nice, yeah, noodle.
This is fun to say, noise.
The word noise starts with a letter N. I wonder if noise could be squishy.
Oh, a new sponge.
That could be squishy.
Yeah, long.
If it's a really big sponge, it might be long.
Oh okay, here's three, net starts with N. My arm is long, and a pillow is squishy.
(laughs) Oh, I love taking a nap with a good squishy pillow.
Nice.
Oh there's three.
Nails, starts with N, the lock could be long, and a bouncy ball is squishy.
Bounce squish, bounce squish, bounce squish, bounce bounce bounce squish.
A Squishmallow, yeah, that's true.
They're really squishy.
That's even got it in the name.
It's so squishy, it's part of the name.

Neptune, that's a planet.
Can you find Neptune?
Ah, there it is!

I'm gonna take a deep breath.
All right- - It is.
I think we need to go out and get some pasta of some sort or another for lunch when we're done with the show.
- Yeah.
You know, I was thinking earlier about when we were talking about how is spaghetti made.
It's long, and I take that for granted.
- [Jim] Oh yeah, and there's people who make it themselves.
I think it's very, very complex thing to make on your own.
- Hmm, you know, all this thinking about spaghetti... (dreamy music) - [Narrator] Wimee sat down, looked around the room, and began to wonder.
He imagined making spaghetti pickle pie for a friend who was sad.
- Potatoes.
Got 'em.
Mayonnaise, marshmallows, tomato, corn.
Hmm, what's next?
Oh, there they are, pickles.
Okay, now I just need to find the noodles.
I just know this will be so delicious.
(dreamy music) Yeah, I'm gonna make that for Moby.
Moby loves it.
Well, we're getting close to the end of our show, and Jim, like I said, I was just, I kind of just, you were talking about food, like lunch and I just- - [Jim] Yeah, I think we gotta go get some lunch.
So maybe we could have a dance party and then have some lunch.
What do you think?
- Okay.
That'll be good to get, yeah, I'm gonna get warmed up for the dance party.
(labored breathing) (Jim laughs) Ready friends, are you ready to dance with us?
We invite you to dance.
You can be as silly... Oh, is there a way to dance like a noodle?
Yeah.
